“Accept Me into Your Big Family”: The National Library Has a New Director
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Arayik Harutyunyan, today introduced Anna Chulyan as the newly elected director of the National Library of Armenia to the library's staff. She was recognized as the winner with the maximum votes in a competition announced by the Ministry for the vacant director position. This was reported by the National Library of Armenia.
The event was also attended by Deputy Minister Narine Khachatryan and the minister's assistant David Danielyan.
“Before introducing Ms. Chulyan, I would like to thank Hrachya Saribekyan for his work during this period. He took on the responsibilities of the library's leadership during a rather difficult phase, and the legacy he received was not enviable. The issues that were faced by Mr. Saribekyan have mainly been resolved, and now Ms. Chulyan will continue that work, doubling the efforts to ensure that the National Library serves its main goals, which have been enshrined since its establishment,” noted Minister Harutyunyan.
Extending his congratulations to the newly elected director, Hrachya Saribekyan, who had been acting as director since February 2019, thanked the library staff for their joint efforts and good work.
“I have been in this building before, but today I am here with a very honorable mission. I am proud to take on this position. I am fully aware of the degree of responsibility and the volume of work that awaits me, but I am not afraid because I will be working with such a great team. There are no random people in the library; dedicated individuals work here. I have come to share my vision, knowledge, and experience with you and also to learn from what I do not know. Regardless of how technology advances, the human being remains the highest value. The National Library is a seriously strategic structure in the cultural sphere, and everyone must realize that their small contribution and activity helps to preserve and promote our national heritage. Accept me into your big family. I believe that in an atmosphere of mutual respect and love, we will be able to move forward significantly. Thank you to the relevant authorities for trusting me. I serve my country,” said Anna Chulyan, the new director of the library, President of the Association of Digital Libraries of Armenia, candidate of philological sciences, and associate professor.
