Jiravord: Discussions on the Electoral Code are Coming to an End. What Decision Will Be Made?
According to the "Jiravord" newspaper, today there will be further discussions regarding the Electoral Code, focusing on electoral administration, observers, media, authorized representatives, and visitors.
This marks the fourth public discussion on the topic. The discussions have been initiated by the parliamentary working group on electoral reforms, although several thematic sections are being developed through various organizations. The discussion on August 18 was related to electoral lists.
Participants noted that there have been longstanding concerns that the electoral lists are significantly inflated. It has been suggested to legally establish that electoral lists should have a search capability. The point is that while it is currently possible to search within electoral lists, there is a theoretical possibility that the police could publish the electoral lists in such a format that would make searching impossible.
It has also been proposed to replace postal service notifications with other forms, such as text messages.
The online discussions will conclude on August 25, with the final discussion dedicated to the regulations of the National Assembly. After that, the results of the public discussions will be compiled, and the draft will be submitted for public consideration.
