‘Fact’. They made it clear to Vahram Avetisyan that they would vote in favor if he acted within Grigoryan's framework
The newspaper ‘Fact’ writes: “As it is known, Vahram Avetisyan, the nominee for the position of Constitutional Court judge proposed by the government, has submitted a request to withdraw his consent to be elected as a judge of the Constitutional Court.
Avetisyan particularly noted on his Facebook page: ‘After the meeting with the members of the ‘My Step’ faction and subsequent discussions, it became clear to me that the views and perceptions of some members of parliament regarding the role of the Constitutional Court, the depoliticization and independence of the judges of the Constitutional Court, do not align with my views and perceptions, and in some cases are unacceptable to me.’
According to ‘Fact’, among numerous questions, those related to the ‘March 1’ case were predominant. The ‘My Step’ faction members transparently made it clear to Vahram Avetisyan that they would vote in favor of his candidacy if he assured them that he would operate within the framework set by Vahe Grigoryan; otherwise, he would not be elected.
However, Avetisyan noted that he is a professional lawyer and considers it unreasonable to expect a predetermined decision regarding any case from the outset; each case should be studied thoroughly and decisions made accordingly, rather than being influenced by bias.
This fundamental contradiction has also been the reason for Avetisyan to withdraw his consent,” the newspaper reports.
