Captain Sanamyan Halts Enemy Attacks on 'ANAVKH' Position, Leads Reconnaissance Group Personnel: Ministry of Defense
The spokesperson for the Minister of Defense, Shushan Stepanyan, wrote on her Facebook page: "By the decree No. NH-189-A of the President of the Republic dated August 18, 2020, upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister, Captain Ruben Sanamyan has been awarded the Homeland Order, receiving the highest title of National Hero of Armenia.
As an officer and commander, Captain R. Sanamyan has demonstrated exceptional bravery, selflessness, and courage in the protection and security of the homeland. Captain Sanamyan skillfully led a team conducting special reconnaissance operations, encouraging servicemen by personal example, assigning individual tasks, and organizing the repulsion of multiple enemy attacks directed at the 'ANAVKH' combat position, inflicting significant losses on their personnel, weapons, and military equipment.
Risking his own life, together with the group's fighters, he conducted complex and dangerous engineering works near the position, acquiring valuable documents, weapons, ammunition, a number of technical means, and other data through reconnaissance.
As a commander, Captain Sanamyan accurately analyzed enemy actions, assessed the situation, anticipated possible developments, and, in collaboration with the personnel of the position, successfully maintained the impregnable status of the 'ANAVKH' combat position.
Biography
Ruben Razmik Sanamyan was born on September 22, 1976, in the city of Dilijan, Tavush Province. From 1995 to 1997, he served in the armed forces in one of the units on the front line. In 2006, he transitioned to contract military service. He is married and has two children. In 2012, R. Sanamyan was awarded the 'Combat Cross' of the second degree.
