Is Varag Siseryan the Chief Architect of Yerevan?
The newspaper "Zhoghavorud" reports that Varag Siseryan, the head of the office of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, has completely taken over the urban planning sector of Yerevan.
Decisions in this area are being made under the coordination of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan and the direct involvement of Siseryan. According to our sources, the acting head of the Urban Development Committee, Armen Ghulyan, reports all matters to Siseryan, and decisions are made only with his approval.
It is worth mentioning that Siseryan aims to appoint Avetik Eloyan as the chief architect of Yerevan after the dismissal of the current architect, Artur Meshchyan. Eloyan previously served as the head of the Urban Development Committee and later as an advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister.
“Zhoghavorud” interviewed Varag Siseryan to clarify the authenticity of this information. “Our office and the Urban Development Committee are coordinated by Tigran Avinyan, and yes, our office is involved as well. But the suggestion that we are granting construction permits, or that everything is coordinated with us, is absurd. Of course, there is nothing like that,” declared Siseryan.
It should be noted that due to Siseryan's audacious behavior, the Prime Minister had previously instructed to seal off his office door, and he has been given a smaller office in the government.
