Former State Minister Grigor Areshyan Has Died
Former State Minister and world-renowned archaeologist Grigor Areshyan has passed away. This was announced by Narek Mkrtchyan, a member of the National Assembly from the "My Step" faction, on his Facebook page.
“We had discussed various ideas with Professor Areshyan and were thinking about their implementation. He was very concerned about the deplorable condition of the history museum and the future of thousands of valuable items that have not been displayed. Professor Areshyan made great contributions to Armenian studies, archaeology, and history,” he wrote.
“He led various archaeological excavations, including those at the Areni-1 cave in Vayots Dzor Province, where the world-famous 5,500-year-old shoe was discovered. May God enlighten your soul,” he added.
