Prime Minister Rebukes Sinanyan for Completely Failing Diaspora Policy
Yesterday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan dismissed ten employees from the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. According to reports, regardless of the specific reasons for these dismissals, the Prime Minister's patience has run thin due to the ineffective operations of the office.
In particular, following Azerbaijani provocations and aggression at the borders, the office was notably passive during the days of clashes between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in countries with large Armenian populations. The commissioner, Zareh Sinanyan, appeared to have gone underground during this critical time.
A government source told the newspaper that Pashinyan recently had a rather stern conversation with Sinanyan, reproaching him for completely failing in the policies related to the Diaspora, especially given the currently fragile situation in homeland-Diaspora relations.
At the end of the conversation, Pashinyan tasked the commissioner with quickly understanding the general sentiments across various Diaspora circles and reporting back to him with all the details.
