Elderly Resident of Lichq Village Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder of Fellow Villager

On July 30, 2020, at 07:40 AM, a call was received from a resident of Lichq village reporting that a villager had shot at her husband.

A criminal investigative operational group immediately went to the scene. According to preliminary data, on July 30, 2020, around 07:30 AM, an 83-year-old resident of Lichq village, due to personal disputes with a 61-year-old villager, attempted to unlawfully take the latter's life using a 12mm double-barreled hunting shotgun model "IZH-58," which he kept illegally. However, due to circumstances beyond his control, the crime was not completed.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia's Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department under Article 34-104 (Attempted Murder) of the RA Criminal Code. The 61-year-old man has been recognized as a victim.

The 83-year-old resident of Lichq village has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. During the pre-investigation, several investigative actions were carried out, including questioning witnesses, seizing the clothing worn by the individuals involved at the time of the incident, collecting samples of the bullet material, and conducting forensic examinations.

The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to ensure an objective, complete, and multifaceted investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
