Video: Calls from Baku for their compatriots to attack Armenians living here, Tonoyan

Yesterday, a brawl occurred between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Moscow, resulting in five citizens of the Republic of Armenia sustaining various injuries, while preliminary reports indicate that around 50 individuals have been arrested on the Azerbaijani side.

Auroranews contacted David Tonoyan, co-chairman of the Union of Armenians in Russia, to learn about the health and psychological status of our citizens following the clashes. Tonoyan stated that the tense situation in Moscow has persisted for five days, and as a result of the clashes, five citizens of the Republic of Armenia were injured, one of whom was stabbed, suffering serious bodily harm.

Tonoyan noted that Armenians in Moscow conducted patrols during the evening. “Last night, our compatriots conducted vehicle patrols. Duties were carried out around Armenian centers, cafes, and restaurants. This is a normal phenomenon; we are ensuring the safety of our compatriots. Of course, the police are doing their job, but we understand that there are many here, which is why we are also maintaining control,” said Tonoyan.

Previously, the Armenian ambassador to Russia, Vardan Toghanyan, announced that the clashes in Moscow were premeditated by the Azerbaijanis. In an interview with “Govorит Москва,” Ambassador Toghanyan characterized the incidents as provocations, stating that the Azerbaijani side had planned and executed a directed attack on Armenians according to a specific scenario. He noted that they received multiple reports of attacks throughout the night, indicating that the gangs were well-organized, likely targeting vehicles with Armenian license plates, and upon their stop, initiating arguments and fights. According to Toghanyan, several individuals were hospitalized.

Toghanyan urged not to fall for provocations, as they are aimed at destabilizing the balance of Armenians in Russia, asserting that the Armenian community is facing well-organized Azerbaijani provocations.
