1600 People Infected with Coronavirus in Gegharkunik Region, Says Governor
Currently, there are no closed communities due to the coronavirus pandemic in the Gegharkunik region. This was stated by Gegharkunik Governor Gnel Sanosyan during a press conference held on the shores of Lake Sevan.
“For over 20 days now, the number of patients in the region has not exceeded 50-60,” the governor noted.
Sanosyan mentioned that local outbreaks and the authorities' decisions to restrict entry and exit in certain communities have significantly contributed to preventing the spread of the virus. “Unfortunately, we experienced such outbreaks, but through joint efforts of the police and communities, we were able to contain larger outbreaks,” he said.
According to him, since the beginning of the pandemic, 1600 people have been infected in Gegharkunik, with the death toll at 21. “Currently, there are 260 patients in the region, of whom 63 are receiving treatment in regional and national hospitals, while the rest are at home,” added the governor.
