Students and Parents Denied Admission to Universities Protest Outside National Assembly
Students and parents denied admission to universities are currently staging a protest outside the National Assembly.
It should be noted that these individuals have been protesting for two days in front of the Ministry of Education and the National Assembly. One student stated, “I took the exam for the subject of Armenian History and received a score of 15.75. Out of the 9 possible faculties listed in my application (Law), I scored higher than at least 20 others in all but the one I was admitted to. In fact, for my stated fourth preference, 5 students were accepted with a score of 7.5. For two days, I have been calling the hotline to get answers to my questions, but unfortunately, there is no valid explanation. Today I was told, ‘Go to the committee at the Ministry of Education; they will provide a solution to your issue.’ However, the committee turns out to be a single person who, upon hearing the questions, only responds, ‘What can we do? We didn’t set those laws.’
We have been left with no other options; there is no competent official willing to listen to hundreds, if not thousands, of people like myself. We must unite; we are the solution to our problem. Everything starts with education,” the statement shared by the protesters reads.
