Incident at the Georgian-Azerbaijani Border
An incident occurred at the Azerbaijani-Georgian border between the Georgian police and Turkish citizen Metin Ardamini. According to Turkish media, the issue arose from photographs of Turkish soldier Omar Halisdemeir, who was killed during the prevention of a military coup in Turkey in 2016, and Azerbaijani hero Mubariz Ibrahimov, which were displayed on the back of the truck driven by Metin Ardamini.
Metin Ardamini was transporting salt from Nakhchivan. The Georgian police stopped him and demanded that he remove the photographs from the truck, but the driver refused, stating that he had a special permit. A dispute ensued between the driver and the police. Officers from the Ardahan gendarmerie informed the consular section of the Turkish embassy in Georgia about the incident. After negotiations, the driver was allowed to cross the border.
