Antonio Guterres Calls for Restraint to Armenia and Azerbaijan
The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to exercise restraint. A large-scale conflict between the two nations would lead to disaster, said Guterres' official representative, Stefan Dujarric, during a press briefing. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“The Secretary-General is deeply concerned about the existing tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He urges maximum restraint; a large-scale conflict between these two countries would be disastrous,” said Dujarric.
It is worth noting that on July 12, around 12:30 PM, Azerbaijani armed forces personnel attempted to breach the state border of the Republic of Armenia in the Tavush direction using a UAZ brand vehicle for unclear reasons. After a warning from the Armenian side, the Azerbaijani personnel abandoned the UAZ vehicle and returned to their positions.
