National Security Service Seeks Permission from Supreme Judicial Council to Grant Status to Judges
The National Security Service has appealed to the Supreme Judicial Council to obtain permission to grant status to several judges of the Bankruptcy and Administrative Courts.
Grigor Bekmezyan, a member of the Council, stated that the application was submitted today, and the Council is obliged to review it and make a decision within one day. "I cannot say which judges it depends on and on what basis, all of that will be considered in a closed-door session. I believe the preliminary investigation body will publish the information as appropriate," Bekmezyan said.
It is worth noting that recently the NSS conducted searches in the Bankruptcy Court, but they did not specify which judges are linked to the investigative actions.
According to information from ArmDaily.am, searches took place in the offices of 3 judges from the Bankruptcy Court and 1 from the Administrative Court. The judges were interrogated right in their offices.
The case initiated by the NSS is related to the abuse of official position and seizure of someone else's property. We contacted the lawyers of the judges, one of whom mentioned that they do not have permission to speak and give interviews regarding the case, while the other lawyer assured that their client does not hold any status and excluded the possibility of their involvement in the future with any status.
As law enforcement remains silent and does not disclose the names of the judges, and the judges do not respond to phone calls, we too will refrain from publicizing the names of the judges and their lawyers.
