Erdogan's Statements Fuel the Fire Ignited Between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Says Karo Paylan
Turkish parliament member Karo Paylan has commented on the statements made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and government officials regarding the clashes occurring at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border as a result of Azerbaijan's provocative actions. This was reported by Ermenihaber.
In a post on social media, Paylan stated: “Erdogan and his ministers' remarks are pouring fuel on the fire ignited between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The tensions that have arisen between neighboring countries must be resolved impartially and fairly. Ethnic and religious bias harms the peace of the region.”
It is noteworthy that Erdogan, responding to the ongoing clashes at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border since July 12 due to Azerbaijani provocations, announced that they would continue to stand “by our friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan” with all their capabilities. Ignoring the fact that Azerbaijan was the aggressor, Erdogan blamed the Armenian side for instigating the clashes and added, “Undoubtedly, this attack is an event that is beyond the scale of Armenia.”
Members of the Turkish government had previously gone further in their statements, issuing overt threats against Armenia.
