Car veers off road and ends up in Lake Sevan: one fatality
On July 5, at 00:20, the National Crisis Management Center received a report that a car had veered off the road near the village of Tsapatagh, on the Jambarak-Vardenis highway, and ended up in Lake Sevan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations' press service reported this.
A firefighting rescue team from the Emergency Situations Ministry's Gegharkunik regional rescue department was dispatched to the scene. It was found that an "Opel Astra" (driver: Arshak G., born in 1993) had collided with the rear of a "Toyota Alphard" (driver: Ashot G.), subsequently veering off the roadway and plunging approximately 50 meters into Lake Sevan.
Rescuers retrieved the body of Arshak G. from the submerged vehicle, then removed the car from the lake, disconnected the electricity, and secured the gas cylinder valve.
