Charges Filed Against the Head of Chambarak Community
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has brought charges against the head of the Chambarak community following an investigation into a criminal case being handled by the Gegharkunik regional investigative department.
According to information from the committee's information and public relations department, it was revealed through investigative actions that the head of the Chambarak community, who has held this position since November 2017, intentionally did not take administrative responsibility measures as prescribed by legislation regarding administrative offenses, particularly in connection with the demolition of an unauthorized structure that he himself constructed at 12/10 Tigran Mets Street in Chambarak in 2008.
Furthermore, in November 2019, just before the annual holiday leave, the community head submitted a request to the Chambarak municipality to have the unauthorized construction he built recognized as legal. On December 12, 2019, a decision by the Chambarak community council recognized the building constructed at 12/10 Tigran Mets Street as community property and legal. Additionally, on the same date, the building was decided to be sold directly to the community leader.
Subsequently, according to a decision made on December 13, 2019, by the person fulfilling his responsibilities, it was decided to sell the unauthorized structure to the community leader.
Based on sufficient evidence, charges have been filed against the head of the Chambarak community under Article 315.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia for the unauthorized appropriation of land belonging to the state or community property, as well as for failing to take legally prescribed measures to suspend or prevent the unauthorized construction of buildings and structures. He has been selected as a preventive measure with a signature not to leave.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
