Allegations of 5000 AMD Bribe for Votes in Favor of 'BHK' Party
Citizens of Armenia are responding to calls from law enforcement agencies to assist in uncovering potential electoral crimes from the previous nationwide elections. Specifically, based on a report received at the Kotayk regional division of the Police in Nairi, factual data has emerged regarding an incident during the parliamentary elections of the National Assembly held on April 2, 2017, at polling station No. 28/16 in the village of Mrgashen, Kotayk region. Around 12:30 PM, an individual, as yet unidentified, offered a bribe for voting in favor of the ‘Prosperous Armenia’ party from a black 'Land Cruiser' vehicle parked beside the village school.
The individual accepted the offer and received a total of 15,000 AMD in exchange for casting votes for the party on behalf of himself, his mother, and his wife. Following this, they proceeded to vote. Given that the prepared materials suggest the candidates participating in the elections, parties (or party alliances), or any intermediaries were involved in either receiving or giving bribes under the conditions of voting for a candidate or participating in the election, a criminal case has been initiated under Articles 154.2, Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The case has been forwarded to the Special Investigative Service of Armenia for further investigation.
