Fatal Collision Occurs in Abovyan
On June 29, a fatal collision took place in the Kotayk region. According to Shamshyan.com, around 20:00, 32-year-old Baghdasar Baghdasaryan, a resident of Kotayk, struck 45-year-old Tamara Afyan, a pedestrian from Abovyan, with his Toyota RAV4 at the intersection of Republic and Yerevanian streets.
The driver did not flee the scene and reported the incident to the Abovyan Medical Center. Medical personnel arrived promptly at the scene and transported the injured pedestrian to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries en route.
The traffic police and investigators arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. While they were conducting an inspection, the hospital reported that the pedestrian had died. By order of the investigator, the vehicle was taken to the custody of the Kotayk Division of the Police.
Witnesses at the scene stated that the pedestrian was crossing at a designated crossing when she was struck. They noted that the driver had traveled approximately 50-60 meters before hitting an iron electrical post, partially entering the traffic lane. The driver claimed that he did not see the pedestrian and that the airbags had deployed, obstructing his view.
