25-Year-Old Dies from Gunshot Wounds in Vardenis
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 25-year-old resident of Vardenis. This was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
On June 27, 2020, around 23:35, an individual committing an apparent crime fired shots at the young man near the entrance of a building on Charentsi Street in Vardenis. As a result of the injuries sustained, the young man died the following day in the Gegarkunik military hospital.
During the investigation at the crime scene, 19 pieces of 7.62 mm caliber cartridges and fired bullets were found.
Based on the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or carrying of weapons, military equipment, explosives, or explosive devices) and Part 1 of Article 104 (murder). An investigative group has been formed, and forensic medical, forensic ballistics, forensic genetic, and forensic psychological examinations have been appointed. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case, as well as the identity of the individual(s) suspected of committing the crime.
Notice: A person suspected or accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia and the court's legally binding judgment.
