Former Deputy Head of the Architecture and Urban Development Department of the City Hall Charged as a Defendant
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has revealed a number of circumstances regarding a criminal case being investigated by the Serious Crimes Investigation Division of the Yerevan Investigative Department against the former deputy head of the Architecture and Urban Development Department of the Yerevan City Hall for allegedly abusing official powers and committing official forgery.
As a result of extensive investigative and other procedural actions, it has been established that the former deputy head of the Architecture and Urban Development Department, acting as an official, used his official position contrary to the interests of the service for group interests and provided blatantly false information in a letter dated August 8, 2002, stating that the land plot measuring 6452.68 square meters, registered in the name of Armenuhy Ruben Gevorgyan, the daughter of the National Assembly deputy Ruben Gevorgyan, located in the area adjacent to the buildings at addresses 12 and 13 of the 4th neighborhood of Davtashen in Yerevan, is a land plot for public development and is not included in the list of restrictions specified in Article 60 of the RA Land Code (land plots that cannot be transferred to citizens and legal entities). This became the basis for the municipal property of the land plot of 6452.68 square meters to be alienated to the lessee, Armenuhy Gevorgyan, as property, without public auctions, with a preferential right of purchase at its cadastral value.
On June 24, 2020, a decision was made to charge the former deputy head of the Architecture and Urban Development Department of the Yerevan City Hall as a defendant for committing socially dangerous acts provided for in Part 2 of Article 308 (abuse of official power) and Article 314 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
