Attempt to Transfer Drugs Using Plastic Cups Prevented
On June 26, around 5:00 PM, staff members of the Armenian Ministry of Justice's "Armavir" penitentiary successfully prevented an attempt to transfer drugs. Acting on operational intelligence, they discovered during a search of a parcel intended for inmate V. M. that it contained seven plastic cups, which were combined and concealed within each cup’s bottom. This suspicious white, powdery substance weighed a total of 80.89 grams and is similar to the drug pregabalin (lyrica).
This information was reported by the public relations department of the Armenian Ministry of Justice's penitentiary service. The detection of this narcotic substance was made possible by the modern security X-ray device "RAPISCAN ORION 920 CX," acquired by the penitentiary service months ago.
It is important to note that a similar attempt to transfer drugs at the Armavir penitentiary was thwarted on January 5, 2020. Materials are being prepared regarding this incident, and the substance has been sent for forensic examination.
