New Ward for COVID-19 Patients to Open at Martuni Medical Center
The Governor of Gegharkunik region, Gnel Sanosyan, announced on his Facebook page that a dedicated ward for the treatment of COVID-19 patients will open at the Martuni Medical Center in the coming days.
“During my working visit to the Martuni Medical Center today, I familiarized myself with the ongoing construction works and the technical and staffing challenges. The newly established ward will have a capacity of 30 beds for mild and moderate cases, and up to 10 beds for intensive therapy. Treatment will be provided by local specialists. The ward will have a separate entrance, and the road leading to the ward is also being improved.
This step has been undertaken as part of a joint initiative with the Government of Armenia. Considering the number of COVID-19 infections in our region and the current situation, we deemed it appropriate to establish this ward to provide our citizens with timely medical assistance. We are working at an accelerated pace in all directions, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. We are doing everything possible to ensure that the ward begins accepting patients in the coming days. It will primarily serve the residents of our region, and if necessary, it may also extend services to residents of Artsakh and other regions,” he wrote.
