Who Can Enter and Exit Armenia During the State of Emergency Declared Due to the Spread of Coronavirus
During the state of emergency, the Civil Aviation Committee frequently publishes information regarding special flights arriving to and departing from Armenia. Auroranews receives numerous inquiries about whether these flights mean that citizens from any country, including Armenian citizens, can arrive in Armenia and depart from it.
The Civil Aviation Committee stated that their role is to publish information about flight arrivals and departures; however, determining who can enter or leave Armenia falls outside their responsibilities. They directed inquiries to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commandant's Office, as these bodies handle this matter.
Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan clarified that the issue of regulations is under the purview of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Commandant's Office. “Any person who is not a citizen of the Republic of Armenia or a family member of an Armenian citizen, and who does not have legal grounds for residence in the territory of Armenia, is prohibited from entering the country through border checkpoints throughout the entire period of the state of emergency. Exceptions include diplomatic representatives of foreign states, representatives of consular institutions, international organizations, and their family members, as well as individuals who have the right to enter as specified by the Commandant or are granted permission in special cases,” Anna Naghdalyan clarified in our conversation.
