The Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, writes on his Facebook page: "A political party that is seemingly digging its own political grave, which is called 'Bright Armenia', accuses me like an orchestra of having 'failed the fight against the virus', forgetting who was against the extension of the state of emergency, the implementation of an IT system for identifying contacts, the wearing of masks, who was shouting to rapidly reopen public transportation that has been a source for spreading the infection, and today we have again large industrial enterprises with dozens of infected individuals. Who questioned the feasibility of ensuring quarantine in hotels, considering it 'extravagance' and 'artifice'.
Despite all of you, the Armenian healthcare system has done several times more than it could to curb the pace of the infection. A system that has been underfunded by 1.4% of GDP for decades and is materially and technically underdeveloped has managed to perform like systems that are a hundred times richer, thanks in large part to dedicated healthcare workers, for whom I am personally very grateful. Boys and girls, your train has left before it arrived..."
