Only 2 Representatives of Show Business Facing Criminal Charges at the State Revenue Committee
The Investigation Department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) is currently handling two criminal cases regarding individuals operating in the performing arts sector, with the pre-investigation continuing. This was reported by the SRC in response to a query from Tert.am.
It's worth recalling that the SRC began urging representatives of the show business to enter the tax system back in 2018. In September 2018, the SRC announced that significantly well-paid singers in Armenia had not submitted tax declarations or paid taxes for decades, imposing a deadline for tax declaration submissions by the end of September 2018.
However, in December 2018, the SRC reiterated its calls for entering the tax field. “Taking into account the partner relations between tax authorities and taxpayers, the SRC once again urges those engaged in entrepreneurial activities in the show business sector—such as singers, musicians, hosts, and other similar activities—to obtain state registration or register with the tax authorities, honestly declare their income, and pay taxes in accordance with the Tax Code,” the SRC stated.
As of December 2019, only 10 of the representatives from show business had declared their incomes. For more details, visit the source website.
