Artsakh President Reappoints Maysi Mayilyan as Foreign Minister
Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan has appointed Masis Mayilyan as the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, according to a decree announced during a live broadcast regarding official appointments.
"Of course, I have thought very long about this direction. I have called for cooperation, and he has accepted. We considered various formats. Taking into account the number of votes received by Samvelich in the first round—more than 26 percent, being a political figure in the presidential elections— I must cooperate. Of course, it has also been noted that our relations have always been warm. In this regard, I have decided that he will hold the position of Foreign Minister at this stage, although we have also discussed other directions. But I believe this is the right approach," said Arayik Harutyunyan.
The president congratulated Mayilyan and added: "I ask that no one consider this a political trade. We have not engaged in political trade. Considering the current situation and the challenges we face today, we have agreed to jointly take on the responsibility necessary for the future of our country."
