All Coronavirus Patients in Adjara Have Recovered as Resorts Prepare for Tourist Season
All infected individuals with coronavirus have been treated in Adjara. The region, which has received a "COVID-19 free" status, is beginning preparations for the tourist season. This was announced by the President of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, as reported by 1tv.ge.
As of April 30, no new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Adjara. The virus has been confirmed in only 70 people in the region, with only two of them still receiving treatment at the Medalpha clinic in Batumi. It was announced today that both patients have recovered and will soon be discharged from the hospital. Furthermore, the Adjara government emphasizes that more than 10,700 tests have been conducted in the region.
Currently, Georgia is among the most favorable countries in Europe concerning the slow spread of coronavirus and the effective management of infected patients. As of now, 208 patients continue to receive treatment for coronavirus in Georgia. Twelve people have died, and 508 infected individuals have recovered, which constitutes about 70% of all cases recorded since February 26.
Given the favorable epidemiological situation, the state of emergency in the country was lifted on May 23. The tourist season within the country is set to begin on June 15, and from July 1, the country will start accepting foreign tourists. Georgia will open its land and air borders for foreign travelers based on guidelines developed in conjunction with the World Tourism Organization and the World Health Organization.
