5 hospitalized. How did the coronavirus penetrate the nursing home?

It is still unclear how the coronavirus penetrated the nursing home in Nork, as strict quarantine measures have been in place there since February 27. This was reported to NEWS.am by Sona Martirosyan, press secretary of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia.

“No one has been allowed in or out of the nursing home, not even the staff. There was one exception; one elderly person was transferred to Erebuni hospital 3 weeks ago for treatment and returned afterwards. He was tested, and his result was negative. This is the only case of entry and exit,” she said. “We should also take into account that the nursing home is very close to the Nork Infectious Diseases Hospital, almost 50 meters away.”

Sona Martirosyan noted that 70 people have been tested so far, with 41 returning positive results. “Currently, 5 individuals have already been hospitalized at Surb Grigor Lusavorich Hospital, while the others have been isolated until we understand how the situation develops. Three of the hospitalized patients show no symptoms; in fact, most of those infected do not have symptoms, although some are experiencing a cough,” she added.
