We Will Soon Have Immunity Testing, Says Minister
In a brief interview with "Azatutyun," Armenian Minister of Health Arsen Torosian announced that soon we will have tests to determine immunity: "Our colleagues from the Russian Federation will provide us with tests, and we will already be able to determine immunoglobulin levels," said Torosian, emphasizing that there are currently very few immunity tests available globally.
"There were rapid tests, which were very poorly informative. Now we will have real accurate tests to determine immunity," Torosian noted. Addressing the likelihood of immunity development after a COVID-19 infection, Torosian found it challenging to provide answers, as, according to him, time is needed for that. "If the infection occurred today, and the patient has recovered, how can I know whether that person's immunity will last three years or not? The most I can know is whether immunity has persisted since the day of their recovery," he stated.
