Georgia Negotiates to Resume Air Travel

The authorities of Georgia are in negotiations with a number of countries regarding the resumption of air travel. This was announced by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a state of emergency has been declared in Georgia since March 21, and regular air travel in all directions was suspended at that time.

According to the Civil Aviation Agency, the ban is expected to be lifted on May 22, although this is not a final decision, reports 'Sputnik Georgia.'

"We are already considering that we will likely resume air travel in certain directions, with strict compliance to requirements; however, this depends on the will of the countries and the situation that we are negotiating with," Turnava stated.

Previously, Georgia had already announced its intention to become the first country to open to tourists and is actively working towards that goal.
