Daughter of the President of Kazakhstan Removed from Office
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has terminated the powers of Dariga Nazarbayeva, the speaker of the Senate of the Parliament. According to Armenpress, this information was provided by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.
The reason for the decision has not yet been disclosed. Meanwhile, the country's leader expressed gratitude to Nazarbayeva for her effective work. "I thank D.N. Nazarbayeva for her active and effective work as the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan," Tokayev wrote on his Twitter microblog.
According to the Constitution of Kazakhstan, the position of the Senate speaker is the second most important after the office of the president. Dariga Nazarbayeva is the eldest daughter of the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Nazarbayev stepped down from his leadership role in March 2019. Dariga Nazarbayeva was a member of the Senate of Parliament in 2016 and was elected as the speaker of the chamber in March 2019.
