Arthur Davtyan to Come to the National Assembly

The newspaper 'Zhoghavorud' reports that tomorrow, April 30, the Republic of Armenia's Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan will come to the National Assembly. He is scheduled to present the results of the Prosecutor General's Office's activities for 2019 to the permanent commission on state-legal issues and to answer the questions of the deputies.

The next session of the NA will start on May 5, and various reports, including that of the Central Electoral Commission on its activities in 2019, will be discussed on that day.

'Zhoghavorud' provided details from Arthur Davtyan's report, which was presented back on March 30. Accordingly, the report includes a focus on the fight against corruption.

In 2019, the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia prepared 2,083 materials concerning corruption-related crimes (compared to 1,988 in 2018), of which criminal cases were initiated for 1,399 (1,469 in 2018), while investigations were declined for 655 (451 in 2018), including 603 (410 in 2018) that were based on justifications and 52 (41 in 2018) on non-justified grounds.

During 2019, the property damage caused by crimes related to 100 prepared, completed, investigated criminal cases amounted to 2,011,559,889 AMD (compared to 4,629,549,320 AMD in 2018). From the total damage caused, 1,003,689,227 AMD (3,938,873,757 AMD in 2018) has been recovered.
