Fruit is removed from inmates' packages, yet they are allowed to purchase the same fruit from a kiosk next to the prison, Zohrabyan

At the "Vanadzor" penitentiary, currently, 20 convicts are on hunger strike, and this number is expected to increase if no measures are taken soon. This was stated today, April 22, in the National Assembly by NA Prosperous Armenia faction MP Naira Zohrabyan.

"In the "Armavir" penitentiary as well, 12 inmates have submitted a written request to the head of the facility, refusing to accept food from the prison. It is unclear why, if relatives are not allowed to include fruits and dry sweets in the packages, they are allowed to buy the same fruit and sweets from a kiosk next to the prison if an inmate has a card. This indicates a clear inconsistency.

When family members bring packages, the dry sweets are removed, the fruits are taken out, and they are told, 'We provide fruit.' However, fruit is given only once every 2-3 days or just one apple per day," Zohrabyan declared.
