Spain Tightens Quarantine Measures

The Spanish government has decided to tighten quarantine measures. Employees of companies that do not perform essential work must stay at home for two weeks. This was announced by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

'The government will decide at the emergency cabinet meeting to keep all individuals whose work is not essential at home. From March 30 to April 9, their movement will also be restricted, but they will receive their wages for those two weeks,' Sanchez said.

He added that Spain is currently in a difficult time, and if they can limit people's movement now, they will be able to overcome the infection. Spain ranks second in the world in terms of mortality rate due to the coronavirus, with 5,820 deaths reported so far. More than 72,000 people have been infected. Italy ranks first in terms of mortality rate.
