Do Not Trust News About Medicines Treating the New Coronavirus

Recently, there have been reports circulating on the internet regarding certain antiviral medications presented as treatments for the coronavirus. However, there is currently no specific drug or method for treating the new coronavirus (COVID-19), as reported by infocheck.am.

According to their insert, medications aimed at enhancing immunity against viruses do not constitute treatment for the new coronavirus (COVID-19). The spread of unfounded information leads to misunderstanding and can mislead consumers.

In this context, the Ministry of Health and Labor Inspection (MHLRA) urges Facebook users not to spread or share unverified information about the treatment of the new coronavirus online and not to accept such information regarding the alleged efficacy of any medication. This could create unjustified expectations and confusion within the public.

Additionally, let us remind that according to Article 7, Clause 23 of the decision to declare a state of emergency in Armenia, the dissemination of information regarding cases of coronavirus infection inside and outside Armenia, the health status of individuals, sources of infection, contacts with persons who may be carriers, the number of individuals undergoing testing (virus testing) and quarantined, as well as information that may incite panic or create a panic situation, is only allowed by referencing official information.
