Three Confirmed Cases of Coronavirus Infection in Shengavit Administrative District: Prime Minister
In Yerevan, the production facility where an employee has been diagnosed with coronavirus is located in the Shengavit community. This was stated today by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a special session of the National Assembly while responding to a remark by LHK faction member Gurgen Baghdasaryan regarding whether it would be better to disclose the location of the facility to prevent panic among residents and allow them to protect themselves.
“Unfortunately, all three confirmed cases are residents of the Shengavit administrative district. And there is a known story related to Vayk – that bistro or café I entered, where I campaigned; that guy was sitting there, as can be seen in the footage. Naturally, when any case is diagnosed, the first thing the ministry does is determine the possible contacts through which the virus could have been transmitted, and that list is drawn up, with those people isolated. I do not rule out that supermarket employees may have been invited and isolated, and it may turn out that they had close contact,” Pashinyan noted, emphasizing that this is done to prevent the virus.
Pashinyan stated that it is not mandatory for a contact person to get infected, as evidenced by the fact that out of the 31 individuals isolated on March 1, 28 were not infected and have been released from isolation.
It should be noted that earlier today, the government made a decision to declare a state of emergency in the Republic of Armenia. The Armenian National Assembly is currently holding a special session to discuss the government's decision to declare a state of emergency.
As of now, 30 cases of coronavirus infection have been officially confirmed in Armenia.
