Alert: Employees of Karlos Esayan Polyclinic Buy Medical Supplies with Their Own Money
Recently, Auroranews received an alert from an employee of the Karlos Esayan Polyclinic. The citizen reports that the hospital is not providing medical personnel with essential and primary medical supplies.
“Doctors and medical staff are forced to buy medical masks and gloves with their own money. The demand for these items is very high, and we know they are out of stock in pharmacies,” said the whistleblower medical worker during a conversation with us.
To understand the issue of why medical workers are purchasing masks and gloves with their own funds, we contacted an employee of the Medical Assistance Policy Division at the Ministry of Health of Armenia. In our conversation, they stated that this is not a serious issue and that it is not unusual for a doctor or medical worker to buy masks or gloves for themselves. “If a doctor is buying a mask or gloves for themselves, there is no problem. They may be buying it as a form of assistance, I don't know. I don’t understand why they call the media during such issues; give them our phone number, and let them contact us directly to voice their concerns,” said the employee before hanging up.
Auroranews is also trying to reach Alina Nikoghosyan, the press secretary of the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, but she is not answering phone calls.
