Theaters and Museums in New York Closed
New York's major theaters, museums, and orchestras are suspending operations and performances due to COVID-19.
“Starting March 13, we are closing the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue, its branches including the Breuer Museum of Contemporary Art and the Cloisters, to support New York City authorities' efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus,” says a statement on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Twitter page.
The management does not specify the timeline for resuming activities but promises to release the sequence of steps early in the week.
For the same reasons, Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera have also ceased their operations. The New York Philharmonic has canceled all concerts until the end of March. The Seattle Symphony Orchestra has taken a similar step.
Measures aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus are being implemented in other states across the U.S. as well.
