Most Applications to Return to Homeland Come from Iran: Sinanyan
A closed meeting of the commission coordinating anti-coronavirus measures has just concluded. David Ananyan, the head of the State Revenue Committee, did not respond to reporters' questions, but instead mentioned that they should wait for the Prime Minister's statement.
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan also noted: "An official announcement will be made. It was a working discussion. A quarantine regime was declared in care centers just two weeks ago, and we continue to maintain that in our plans. We have no information about any new cases."
Journalists questioned the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan about the 100 citizens arriving from Italy on Sunday, to which he responded that it falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health. "There are alerts and applications from the diaspora, in a small quantity, but there are. Besides Italy, I am not aware of any other programs," he stated.
The commissioner noted that most applications to return to the homeland come from Iran.
Tatevik Revazyan, head of the State Civil Aviation Committee, also addressed the citizens returning from Italy on Sunday and mentioned that they are currently in the organizational phase and do not have answers to many questions. "We are working closely with the Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs to finalize the list of those returning. Among them are students, tourists, and local citizens from Italy," she remarked.
In response to remarks about certain routes potentially being closed, Revazyan replied, "We can consider that closing routes may ease the situation, but it could worsen the problem. This is because citizens who have come or who have had the virus would face a more complex situation if they traveled transit."
