Why the Yerevan-Milan Flight Is Not Canceled

Despite the outbreak of coronavirus that has put Italy's Lombardy region and its administrative center Milan under quarantine, the Yerevan-Milan flight is not canceled. This is reported by A1+. According to the information from the Zvartnots International Airport website, the flight from Yerevan to Milan is scheduled for tomorrow, March 10th, and is operated by the low-cost airline Ryanair.

Why is this flight not being canceled when it is known that from March 8 to April 3, a special regime for entering and leaving is in effect in Milan and other northern Italian cities? The number of infected people in Italy has reached 7,375. The Civil Aviation Committee informed the media that the decision to cancel the flight is up to the airline. Ryanair has not made such a decision yet.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anna Naghdalyan, stated that those traveling from Yerevan to Milan must comply with the restrictions imposed by Italian authorities due to quarantine. This means that if a passenger decides to travel to Italy, they must be prepared to adhere to these restrictions. Educational institutions, gyms, and museums have already been closed. Many cultural and sporting events have been postponed.

It should also be noted that Ryanair tickets are non-refundable, and if the flight is not canceled, the passenger cannot expect a refund if they opt out of flying.
