Russia to Temporarily Close Its Border with Iran

The Russian government has decided to suspend the entry of foreign nationals and stateless persons from Iran across its state border. This decision has been made in light of the scale of the coronavirus outbreak.

According to a document published on the government’s website, "In order to ensure state security, to protect public health, and to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection (2019-nCoV) within the territory of the Russian Federation, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation will temporarily suspend the passage of foreign citizens and stateless persons from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran across the state border of the Russian Federation from midnight local time until March 7."
