Turkey Closes Airspace to Russian Military Aircraft
Turkey has denied Russian military aircraft passage through its airspace en route to Syria. This was reported by the Turkish news outlet 'Haberler', citing Russian sources.
It was noted that on the previous day, a Russian military cargo plane, the Tu-154M, and Su-24 fighter jets were forced to bypass Turkish airspace, flying over the Caspian Sea and then entering Syria through Iranian and Iraqi territory.
According to Turkish sources, weapons and ammunition are being transported to Syria aboard the Russian cargo plane to supply Assad's forces, which are conducting military operations against opposition fighters in Idlib. Recently, the Syrian government forces have been carrying out military operations in the Idlib province to clear the area of terrorist groups, as reported by Ermenihaber.
During these operations, clashes have also been recorded between Turkish forces present in Idlib and units of the government army, resulting in the deaths of a total of 15 Turkish soldiers on February 3, 10, and 20.
