Arthur Aleksanyan Becomes Five-Time European Champion

Olympic, European, and World Champion Arthur Aleksanyan has claimed his fifth European Championship title. In the final match of the Greco-Roman style wrestling European Championship, held in the capital of Italy, Rome, Aleksanyan faced Nicoloz Kakhelashvili from Italy in the 97 kg category. The Armenian wrestler dominated the match with a score of 7:1, securing his fifth gold medal at the European Championship.

Aleksanyan began his journey in the championship from the Round of 16, where he defeated Turkish wrestler Zenk Ildem, followed by a victory against Bulgarian Kiril Milov. In the semifinals, he triumphed over Finland's Mati Elias Kuomanen.

Aleksanyan has previously won European Championships in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2018. The Gyumri athlete is also the champion of the Rio Olympic Games and has won World Championships three times in 2014, 2015, and 2017.
