Clashes and Tensions in Malatia-Sebastia
This morning, residents of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan have staged a protest against the construction of the "North-South" road next to their building.
Earlier, clashes occurred between the police and some of the residents, who were trying to prevent the demolition of their garages. The police forcefully removed the residents from the area.
One of the citizens mentioned that when signing the contract regarding his garage, he was not familiar with its terms. He received a compensation of about 3,000,000 AMD for the garage, but was supposed to also receive 600,000 AMD since the garage had also served as a workshop.
A conflict broke out at the protest site between the protesting citizens and the police, where angry residents demanded that the city authorities ensure a safety zone for them. Currently, the machinery continues to demolish the garages.
