Video: Alarm Raised as Veolia Water Releases Manhole Water onto Street, Risk of Freezing

The Veolia Water company is reportedly failing to operate correctly even in this weather. Residents of Bagrevand Street in Yerevan have contacted Auroranews regarding this issue.

“We don’t understand how this company operates. This morning, we noticed that they are cleaning the manhole and releasing a large flow of water onto the roadway. They don’t consider that it is cold outside, and in a few hours, this water will turn into ice, creating an emergency situation on the road,” said one of the concerned citizens who reached out to us.

Auroranews contacted the spokesperson for Veolia Water, Murad Sargsyan, to understand whether there is another option for removing water from the manhole or whether the employees could not use a pipe to do so. “We have always worked this way; I don’t understand what the problem is. We have no other means to remove that amount of water,” the spokesperson stated.

Auroranews has also reached out to the spokesperson for the Yerevan municipality, Hakob Karapetyan, to convey the citizens’ complaints. We are currently awaiting their response.
