The Issue of Hrayr Tovmasyan's Functional Immunity to be Examined by Judge Mesrop Makyan
The investigation of the defense's appeal against the decision of the Prosecutor General of Armenia to involve Hrayr Tovmasyan, the President of the Constitutional Court, as a defendant has been assigned to Mesrop Makyan, a judge at the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan. This was reported by 'Pastinfo'.
It should be noted that Mesrop Makyan is also a member of the Supreme Judicial Council.
Recall that Hrayr Tovmasyan has been accused since December 27, 2019, under the second part of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Armenia for abuse of official authority. Furthermore, the decision to involve him as a defendant was made by the Prosecutor General on December 26, the very same day that President Armen Sarkissian signed the law on sending Constitutional Court judges into early retirement.
