Residents of 4th Category Emergency Buildings to Be Resettled in 2020
The Yerevan City Hall has announced on its official Facebook page that the resettlement program for residents of 4th category emergency buildings will continue in 2020.
According to Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Hayk Sargsyan, in 2019, the city hall provided apartments to some 170 families, either in actual form or in the form of preliminary certificates. “The mayor distributed the certificates to those families, which are expected to receive new apartments by March of this year. However, we finished the construction of the building from which they were to be allocated apartments ahead of schedule, and today we are almost at the completion stage of that building. By the end of February, we will have the building ready to hand over to the residents.
This should serve as a message to other residents who did not sign agreements with us due to a lack of trust. Our offer remains valid; they did not trust back then, but now the fact is before their eyes, they can come and receive their apartments,” said the Deputy Mayor.
He also added that preparations are underway to construct a new building in Yerevan for the resettlement of residents from the 4th category emergency buildings. “They will be relocated to actually existing apartments. The area has already been preliminarily defined. We will vacate 4-5 buildings of emergency category 4. We will be able to resettle about 130 apartments. Those buildings will be demolished, and developers will construct new high-rise buildings there, returning 5 floors to the city. The city will also resettle residents from another three buildings into these new buildings. The vacated buildings will be demolished and this chain reaction will allow us to resolve the issue of emergency buildings within about 10 years,” he said.
