Sargsyan Struggles with the Death of Georgi Kutoyan

The newspaper «Hraparak» reports that former President Serzh Sargsyan has taken the news of Georgi Kutoyan's death hard, refraining from speaking with anyone for hours.

The scheduled session of the executive body of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) was brief. According to an RPA source quoted by the newspaper, Sargsyan had a special relationship with Kutoyan. In 2016, despite widespread criticism, he appointed him as the head of the National Security Service, having high hopes that he would advance, especially after the events surrounding the police special forces' operation.

Sargsyan was said to be so dejected that the session of the executive body proceeded almost incidentally, despite the presence of several significant issues on the agenda, including the situation surrounding the Constitutional Court. The case of Kutoyan altered the entire agenda of the meeting.
