International Airlines Shift to Utilizing Georgian Airspace Instead of Iran
According to existing reports, some international airlines have started to utilize Georgian airspace instead of Iran due to the situation that has developed in the Middle East. The portal Flightradar24 informs that "the corridor that passes through Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan is experiencing heavier traffic in the morning hours of January 9, as many airlines no longer use the airspace of Iraq and Iran."
It is visible on the map that aircraft heading towards Europe are using Georgian and Azerbaijani airspace. Due to the escalation of events in the Middle East, major airlines, including Lufthansa, Air France, Singapore Airlines, and Qantas Airways, have refused to use the airspace of Iraq and Iran.
